It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The top summits have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has achieved everything.

It needed up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's challenging for their batters to possess a record if not afforded the opportunity.

In the end, the result of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her bow and seven world titles have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

If this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Some will argue the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was far harder to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this performance followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it has been a disappointing period because it seemed I've had no rhythm at all," commented Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive nature kick in and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from there Healy was underway.

"A chance to play and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was dismissed Australia needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm pleased we have the belief to do that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, should it happen, we know we can do it."

These statements will be the last competing nations at this championship should hear.

In recent days a belief they will win from any position has only strengthened - this victory following success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated through the pain.

Yet even as she later admitted those fitness problems have pushed back plans to retire, this championship is expected to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as skipper.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
